My grandfather Andreas Wesolowski, born in Roza pw. Gniezno?

09 sty 2017, 14:22

Dear friends in Poland,
I write in English not in German, so I can maybe reach much more people…

For so many years I am searching facts about my unknown grandfather Andreas Wesolowski, who lived together with my grandmother Maria Teschner, born Rozan, (she was a widow) since the first world war. They had four children together. My father Otto Rosan, born 1922, was the last one. But all of my family are dead, so I cannot ask anybody anymore.
I only have little informations about Andreas Wesolowski. My aunt told me, that he was a soldier in 1. World war and hided in this little west-masurian village Sabloczyn (1938 Sablau, today Zablocie Kozlowskie) near Kozlowo pow. Nidzica. He never got naturalized in Germany, so he was stateless and perhaps had a Nansen-Passport, he spoke polish, he was a catholic and died in April 1927 in the age of 30-40 years because of tuberculosis. He was buried in Kozlowo, where the next church and the next cemetary were. My grandparents never got married because Andreas was very ill for a long time and people told if he would die, the whole family would be Polish. That was not very popular at that time…
I know, that in those times the catholic church of Dzialdowo (Soldau) was the right one for catholic people in Sabloczyn. I wrote to the priest Kosciol Sw. Wojciecha, Ul. Nidzicka 4, PL- 13-200 Dzialdowo, but I got no answer.

And the papers of the civil registry in Kozlowo were burnt in 2. World war. But in the German lists about dead and hurt soldiers during the 1. World war, I found a registration of “Res. Andreas Wesolowski, Rosa, Gnesen- hurt” belonging to the “10. Komp.; III. Bataill.; 49. Inf. Reg. Gnesen (Gniezno)“
When he was a reservist in 1914, he must be born about 1891 or some years before, am I right?
So I hope very much, that I am on the right way and someone can help me to find his birth and his family. Maybe there is a note of his death 1927 on his birth certificate. Were those notes made at that time? Civil registry in Gniezno:

It would be very nice, if someone has an idea and can answer me, in English or German.

With best regards to Poland :)

3. If your grandfather was born in Roza Gniezno in 1891 his birth certificate should be in AP Poznań or in AA Gniezno.

I will look for more information. I can also write to church of Dzialdowo and ask other genealogists in Poland. Maybe they know some useful sources.

Regards,
Gosia
